Hoppers are used as buffer storage to transfer material from one system to another, for example, from a Wagon Tippler to a conveyor system.  KMK design and supply hoppers to suit any material, with the use of stainless steel and Hardox or Tivar liners as needed.  Hoppers can be fitted with Grizzley screens, rail mounted Crushers, and flip-flap gates.  Internal baffles can be used to reduce impact on equipment below the hopper.

• Dust suppression – e.g. Water Sprays

Dust Suppression is used to stop dust causing a problem and entering the air.  Traditionally, water is sprayed either onto the material, as the material passes, or as a screen.  This will basically coat the dust in water droplets to make them heavier.  Modern improvements include specific water nozzles that can produce a range of sprays, suited to the dust and can be linked to site operations or atmospheric conditions.

• Dust Extraction – machine specific or building wide

Dust extraction is used to remove airborne dust using a filter.  Air vents are positioned at passive or active points in the site.  A fan sucks air though the vents, pipes, and through an air filter that collects the dust.  Once the dust has been collected it can be fed back into the system.

• Tippler Cowls – Sealing the area around the Tippler

A Tippler cowl is an enclosure around the Tippler that is used to keep dust from spreading.  The cowl is made from thin-walled corrosion resistant materials.  In some areas, wear plates are used to prolong life.  The Cowl is sealed against the rotating tippler, and further seals around the wagon move into place when the Tippler rotates.  A dust extraction system is added to ensure that airborne dust is sucked in and cannot escape.

• Conveyor Cowls – Sealing the conveyor system

Conveyor Cowls are used to protect the material on a conveyor.  The material is shielded from wind and rain.  Material moving onto this conveyor can still create dust, so dust extraction is used in the cowl.

• Dust Gates – To prevent dust updraft

When material is dumped into a chute or a hopper, the impact will release dust, and the movement will cause a gust of air.  To stop the movement of the air back out of the hopper, Dust Gates can be placed at the entrance.  They are one way gates and allow material to pass through while they restrict any updraft.
