Hydraulic, or Gravity Clamps can be used to restrain the top of the wagons during tipping, and a side pad supports the ‘tip side’ of the wagon. KMK use precision rack & pinion gearing and highly controllable VVVF drives to accurately rotate the Tippler. The Plant Operator can observe the unloading process from the control room which is situated to view the emptying and the positioning of the wagons. The Tippler and overall plant can be controlled here using HMI Screens.

- Dust Suppression optional
- No Train Mover pass-through
A C-Type Tippler is similar in design to an O-Type, with a section of the End Rings removed to allow the passage of a Wagon Moving Device. It can be designed to tip wagons around their centre of gravity, the wagon coupler axis, or a preferred centre of rotation. This allows for ideal balancing, reducing the power needed to rotate the wagon.

A TDT is used to unload a wagon to the side of the main track. It can also be used to raise the unloading position to a higher level. It allows passage of a Wagon Moving Device due to the open end-frame. The sideways movement of the wagon also means that wagons in a train must be uncoupled before being tipped. The wagons can be unloaded into a shallow foundation hopper or directly onto the land for onward handling i.e. using front loaders.

- Flexible – Allows multiple (random) wagon sizes in a single train
- Suitable for all sites – Tip into a Shallow Foundation Hopper
or onto land i.e. for use with front loaders - Medium to low speed – Up to 25 Tips per hour, or 50 wagons per hour
- Medium tonnage throughput – up to 3,750 Tons per hour
- Single or double length, parallel only
- High lift option – Rotation about land mounted pivots
allows for high lift - Allows Loco pass-through
- Allows Train Mover pass-through
A Train Mover is used to move a train of wagons. They can be used for positioning the wagons in a Wagon Unloading System such as a Tippler or a ‘Bottom Dump’ Hopper. For high throughput systems, it is sometimes necessary to use two Movers in series to reduce lost time due to returning to the start position. KMK design Train Movers to work with wagons that have Standard Couplings, Rotary Couplings, and Pusher Pads. High accuracy and speed are achieved by using shallow foundation drive racks and adjustable drive pinions.
The capacity and dynamics of the Train mover can be assessed by using KSIM, our in-house train simulation program. This allows KMK to foresee issues with train dynamics and provide solutions, before installation or commissioning.
- Indexers – To cycle the train during unloading
- Chargers – Load the Tippler with wagons
- Positioners – For multi-purpose operations
- Ejectors – to push out or pull wagons from & onto a Traverser
- Controlled and accurate moving of whole or sectioned trains
- Can move coupled or uncoupled trains
- Using custom arm head to move coupled wagons
- Using coupler arm head to connect to wagon couplers
- Cushioning head arm(s) to move trains with pusher pads
Traversers are used to move wagons from one rail track to another parallel rail track. They can be designed to serve any number of tracks. This removes the need to have a long set of shunting tracks or a large loop of track. With a traverser, the wagons can be placed on another line ready for pick up by a locomotive or shunter.
KMK traversers can work with Train Movers to load and unload wagons efficiently as part of a Wagon Unloading System. They run on rails and use pin racks and drive pinions for accurate and fast operation.
An onboard Ejector uses a rack & pinion to pull on and push off the wagons, onto the exit track. The Traverser can be fitted with wagon wheel grippers and a centralising pin for increased security.
- An ideal solution to sites with land limitations
- Avoid having a rail loop
- Low power consumption
- Minimum foundations
- Matched to your timecycle – no throughput reduction
KMK use THDs to control wagons in conjunction with Train Movers as part of a Wagon Unloading System, to improve accuracy and reduce cycle times when unloading wagons. Control of train movement is important for safe and effective handling within a wagon unloading plant process.
THD types include Wheel Grippers, Wheel stops, Wheel Chocks, and Wagon Pusher Pad Stops.
- High capacity – Upwards of 15t per axle
- Consistent and reliable gripping force – Operating on all wheels individually
- Surface mounted – Can be mounted flush with top of concrete level
- Less excavating – Requires a very shallow foundation pit
- Lower cost – Less Steelwork than conventional (deep pit) designs
- Low maintenance – Fewer complex mechanisms
- No foundation pit – no flooding problems – no access barriers for maintenance – safer inspection
